I was reading my science fiction book for class and came across this sentence: "If you work hard enough at something that doesn't matter, you can forget for a while about the things that do." This hit close to home. Personal burdens had been shoved onto the back burner because I choose to keep myself busy with my internship, studying, going to classes, etc etc. It's a lot easier to fool yourself into thinking that you simply just don't have the time to worry about things when you're so preoccupied with busy work. It's good in a way because I save myself from a lotta stress...but then I also miss out on a lot, bad or good. How foolish to me to also believe that I can control when things happen. Because very rarely can situations happen on your terms. Time to own up to it.

"How can you love me if you don't love yourself first?" The most profound saying I have heard in a long time...and it was taken out of context hahaha

I want... -to be a more attentive sister and daughter. -to be a more effective listener. -to be able to be with my boyfriend for more than several times each year. -to be a more understanding girlfriend. -to quickly adapt to change. -to see the positive side and appreciate the little things. -to not be a flake and keep my word. -to make time to do things that really matter (and NOT spend it on the internet) -to put in an honest effort into working things out with God. -to put words into action.

I've realized that I tend to trust people really easily. I can name many incidences where, in my mind, I've considered certain people to be my friends, only to find out that I'm the only one to call what we had a "friendship". It's always really disappointing to find out that everything had been a one-way relationship; I give a lot of myself to my true friends...maybe I'm too...naiive? Foolish? Hopeful? I feel my heart being hardened a lot nowadays. Too many disappointments from people that were important to you can make even the most optimistic person fall into a rut.
